- INDEPENDENT LOCAL RADIO FOR THE SOUTH HAMS -

The Radio Authority have officially advertised the Radio License for the South Hams area.

Regatta FM 101 is delighted by this news after campaigning for over five years for a South Hams license. We first went on air in Dartmouth in 1995 to prove the viability of the area.

We handed our application for the permanent license to the Radio Authority on Tuesday 5th of January 1999 and should receive their decision in May.

Managing Director of Regatta FM 101 Bob Smith, has long been a radio campaigner for the area.  Bob has managed three Regatta FM special licenses since 1995 in Dartmouth, with an appearance on Gemini AM in the summer of 1998.

"Local news, local travel, a showcase for local talent"

"Your views have been of the utmost importance to Regatta FM 101 and we are determined to provide you with the type of radio station you want to listen to and feel a part of" Bob Smith, Managing Director.

That's why your views were the basis of our application.  In addition to carrying out extensive research throughout the South Hams, we also sent every household a questionnaire asking you for views on how the station should operate.

We now know the types of music you like, and just how important the local weather forecasts are to you.

The station will offer truly local information that matters to the people of the South Hams. Local news, local travel, a showcase for local talent, news on local events all presented by local personalities.
